I have been using a Linux desktop @home exclusively for about two years. Actually, I have had a great time playing with many of the different Linux distributions and desktops! It is great to be able to choose a different desktop session at each login (or even a different distribution at boot), depending on what your task at hand is.

Indeed, Linux offers a very different user experience from a Windows or a Mac desktop. Linux desktops offer everything from a paneled interface (like Xfce and LXDE) to a tablet-like interface (like Ubuntu Unity and Gnome 3) and something in between (like KDE and Cinnamon). Best of all, many of the Linux distributions provide most of these desktops. And, despite the many distributions that offer Xfce or Gnome 3 or KDE, for example, desktops retain their personalities and behaviors across the Linux distributions.

In addition, I want to share some of my research into Java technologies. Technologies that interest me and pic my curiosity, rather than those I use by day. I am very fortunate to be able to receive a salary for what amounts to a hobby.

So, please be patient with me and make sure to correct me when I mispeak (or mistype)!

I do not know where this blog will take me yet..
